The engineering task that I have no idea! We need an answer tonight pereferably (April 16)?

Basically, this is what my task says: "Using Internet / Library / textbooks, state and describe the method / principle of holding and machining of components or square-shaped irregular, using a lathe center. "I have until tomorrow to make the draft and I have no idea what to put, so if you can help would be very appreciated! Ta!

Typically items are held in a vise on a plate. This may be a collet (for 5C necklaces, for example) or three or four claws that can be self centered (all movements in the jaws and together) or independent, with each jaw can be moved individualy. The articles also can be converted between centers. Clamps can be used to hold this round, square or hexagonal articles. They can also be custom made if necessary for a common part which is one of the regular sections. Necklaces closure can be maintained on the outside of an object or the extension of holding inside an object. Collars are sized that can only be 2 mm, for example, a round collar diameters can only carry 10 to 12 mm. To maintain 13mm require a different collar so normally need to be in a set of beads to cover a wide range of sizes. Chucks with jaws are much greater capacity of necklaces. A 150mm diameter roll with two sets of jaws for holding inside and outside parties may be able to keep anything from 1 mm to over 150 mm in diameter. Three jaw self centering rolls are good for all or parts hexagonal, but not square or irregular parts. For these four independent Chuck jaw is better as it will do what the Chuck jaw three self-centered will, but also make the other shapes. You can also install a front plate to a winch. In this case the faceplate is a round dish with a flat face and features such as holes or slots for mounting elements to it. The part is fixed to the faceplate with the support, if necessary, to put their face to be machined in orrientation correct. Often, a balanced weight is added to ensure that everything runs without vibration. Parts can also be converted between schools. This requires on the part of having two small holes at opposite ends machined to fit in the centers, one in the axis around the head and once in the action the tail of the lathe.
